WAKANDA FOREVer

The last time I ever felt this kind of feeling was when Paul Walker of the fast and the furious died. I don’t even know where to begin but if you followed how excited people were about black panther then you should not be surprised at the  flowers and messages that are flooding in for Chadwick Boseman.Since time immemorial all the superheroes were white until king T'challa. When the black panther came out we could all resonate because this was the first superhero that represented us as a people, a culture and damn did he do it so well that Trump’s government wanted to partner with Wakanda not knowing it was a fictious country.Thats how much his character sold that movie.Thats how much his character gave us a sense of confidence and pride.

Now behind the scenes, Chadwick was fighting a big battle, was being a real hero in everything he was going through. Yet he still entertained us, walked with his chin held high like everything was okay. He made a mark, left footprints in the sand that will never be erased. Like the king he portrayed, Boseman prioritized our interests and happiness before his. Now that is one hell of a king that deserves all these posts he is getting and more. He was falling apart yet he kept it together, he was weak yet he stood strong facing his battle head on with all the courage there can ever be.He showed us what it  truly means to be young ,gifted and Black .

Fast forward to today, others want to dictate why people should not mourn him. That he did not know the people that are posting him and the people did not know him. Do we really want to overlook the fact that He had an impact of our lives, a positive impact that uplifted black Excellency? He gave us wings to fly. He imprinted on our hearts like so many other people. We never met Mandela yet we draw so many of our lessons from him. We mourned him when he died because he left a blueprint on mother similarly we never met Dr. Martin Luther King but #BlacklivesMatter evolved from his ideas. We did not have to know him personally to appreciate how he had influenced our lives in one way or the other.

Seeing people in a whole different light because they choose to mourn Chadwick for sharing his talent with the world is being blinded by the light. These are surely the same people that threw a lot of shade when he started losing weight, not knowing what he was going through. Let those that want to mourn a true king do so without being policed. Whether you accept it or not Black panther especially King T’challa. When created a positive image of black people. Seeing the speeches he made, you will know that he was in a lot of pain but still have us his best. He deserves these goodbyes. Most of us would have given up on life.

Instead of being grief police ,we can draw important life lessons from the situation. To Refrain from make assumptions about people whose life we know nothing about, to always  be kind  because everyone is fighting a bigger battle they can not talk about, to have a solid support system in our lives,to be human enough to think a little more of others than yourself but most importantly to do more than breathe and survive but live life to the fullest until the very end.pursuing our dreams fearlessly while inspiring others and making our mark.

When all is said and done, we cannot tell people how to feel or not feel ,who to mourn or not mourn. Feelings have never and will never work like that. What matters now is to remember today and always in King T'Challah’s words that “In my culture, death is not the end”.

We will always remember Black Panther, Always!!!Rest in  Power King. Wakanda Forever!!!

Stop Body Shaming

For this particular topic, I am really struggling with where to begin so I will just simply go with the flow. Since time immemorial, my country people have always had issues with how women look and dress. Let me take you back to the time a woman was stripped naked in Blantyre town for wearing something “the streets” deemed inappropriate. The strange thing about cases like these, is the fact that most of the clothes that are seen as not fit to wear are actually sold by the same vendors that undress women. If people are not talking about how short something a woman is wearing, they are talking about how fat, slim, figureless one is. They are including in their diction words that are demeaning and inappropriate. Fast forward to last week, there was an inaugural annual fashion show event at Bingu International Conference center (BICC) by Mabel Khonje dubbed “Boudoir” which translates to a woman’s private bedroom. The fashion show was showcasing lingerie and swim suits. To keep you up t

CHOOSE KINDNESS

14 days into July, well the second half of the year, not that anybody is actually counting but that’s that. I should have been posting this piece on July first or somewhere there about but Personally, the year has been going unbelievably “Jumanji” the next level for me. Will get into the “what nots “of what has been going on another time or never. All I know is I have been feeling like nothing has been going my way literally nothing. Modern slang “nothing doing” accurately describes the scenario at the moment.     Yes, it is as bad as it sounds, so I won’t be bringing to the lime light the intricate details of the scenarios but I will paint a picture in case someone out there feels like they are alone. I made it to top three of an internship that I have always wanted only to be left out, the writing gig I enjoyed so much fell through because my life was actually falling apart, I met someone who I thought I could build something with but gosh it ended in tears. So literally everything
